  1. Go to the Gmail website, which is gmail.com. You could also go to Google's homepage (google.com) and click on Gmail in the upper left hand corner.
  2. 2
Find "Can't access your account?" under the sign-in button.
  3. 3
Type in your Gmail address. If you forgot it, click the button "Forgot your username?" and type in your recovery email address.
  4. 4
Type in the CAPTCHA word shown. This prevents computers from getting access to your account.
  5. 5
Choose one of the options shown. You can use the recovery email, the secret question, or no access.
  6. 6
After doing one of those, you should reset your password.

Tips

  • Make sure you can remember your password.
  • Try passwords that have at least one uppercase letter, and at least one letter. They are very strong passwords.
  • When making a password, DO NOT use something like "gmail", "password", one that is all numbers such as "39357777110048", your name, or any random typing like "wniodnidnn35gdas".

Warnings

  • Have a recovery email or secret question.
  • Never tell anyone your password under any circumstances. The only exception is a parent or legal guardian (under age 18) or trusted spouse (if married and share an account).
